We're heading to overtime at the Winter Classic and a late surge by Boston tied the game at one.  It will be 4-on-3 to start, with a penalty on Mike Richards carrying over.

This has been a fantastic came thus far and looks like it will only get better!

* The temperature was dropping to start the third period, making the ice very chippy.  Even with the deteriorating ice conditions the determination was made not to switch sides halfway through the third period.

* The transition game continued to pay dividends for the Flyers, as another solid transition play led to a Johnny Boychuck penalty.

* The party line during the intermission for Boston was ‘shoot the puck.'  Marco Sturm took that to heart early and nearly got a puck past Leighton early on in the period on a long shot.

* The atmosphere in Fenway during the third was absolutely amazing.  The action started picking up early and shift after shift the fans started making their presence known.

* Boston's first powerplay led to some great pressure from the Bruins.  It was really the first sustained pressure that they had gotten for a while.  While it didn't result in anything, it started tipping the ice in the favor of the Bruins.

* Philadelphia did a great job of locking down the center of their own zone, not really giving Boston any great scoring chances.  In the middle of the period especially, they didn't give up much.

* The rendition of ‘Sweet Caroline' by the fans in Boston was fantastic.  Fenway provided a great atmosphere for the game - definitely one to remember.

* Philly did a great job of playing keep-away late in the game.  They got the puck and just dumped it down up the boards.  They still played aggressive hockey, but played very smart.

* Great pressure and great puck movement led to Boston's first goal of the night.  It was a tic-tac-tac-tac toe goal as Derek Morris fired the puck just wide of Leighton, right onto the waiting stick of Mark Recchi who was right on the doorstep for the tap in.  Absolutely fantastic job by the Bruins to tie the game.  1-1 Tie

* Boston used their momentum following the play and got a powerplay chance late in the third, rolling over into overtime.
