Four Senators were named to the All Star squad on Thursday. Craig Anderson was not one of them, for reasons that need not be discussed here. Thursday night, however, he put together an All-Star performance against the team that many think to be the best in the league.
1) Craig Anderson, Ottawa Senators – Anderson made his case for being an All Star snub, stopping all 34 shots he faced on Thursday for a 3-0 win over the surging New York Rangers. Jason Spezza scored twice and Milan Michalek once to give the Sens the edge.
2) Jiri Tlusty, Carolina Hurricanes – Tlusty scored twice and added an assist to help the ‘Canes past the Tampa Bay Lightning. Tuomo Ruutu, Jay Harrison and Tim Brent also scored for Carolina and Cam Ward stopped 34 of 36 shots for the win.
3) Dave Bolland, Chicago Blackhawks – Bolland scored twice and assisted on one more in the Blackhawks’ 5-2 win over the struggling Minnesota Wild. Andrew Shaw, Jimmy Hayes and Viktor Stalberg also scored for Chicago, while Ray Emery stopped 21 of 23 shots.
