Niklas Backstrom
Last week, it seemed like Niklas Backstrom was in danger of losing his job to Josh Harding. This week, Backstrom has seen Harding’s bet and raised him 43 saves.

1  Niklas Backstrom, Minnesota Wild – Backstrom was spectacular for the Wild in their 4-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, stopping 43 of 45 shots – including 16 in the first period and 17 in the third. Matt Cullen, Nick Johnson, Cal Clutterbuck and Devin Setoguchi scored for the Wild.

2  Stephen Weiss, Florida Panthers – Weiss tallied a goal and two assists and was a staggering plus-6 as the Florida Panthers downed the Dallas Stars with a commanding 6-0 win. Dmitry Kulikov, Jason Garrison, Tomas Fleischmann, Kris Versteeg and Evgenii Dadonov all scored for Florida while Scott Clemmensen stopped 25 shots for the shutout.

3  James Neal, Pittsburgh Penguins – Neal continued his blistering start to the season, tallying a goal and two assists for the Penguins, who downed the struggling Colorado Avalanche 6-3. Jordan Staal, Pascal Dupuis, Brooks Orpik, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang also added goals for Pittsburgh and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 24 shots for the win.
