Drayson Bowma's bright future became the present Thursday night. Pressed into action due to injuries in Carolina, the rookie tallied his first goals of the season in a marvelous game against the Vancouver Canucks.
1 Drayson Bowman, Carolina Hurricanes – Bowman picked a good time to score his first two goals of the season, scoring once in the second and once in the third to help the ‘Canes past the Vancouver Canucks. Tuomo Ruutu and Jaroslav Spacek also scored for Carolina and Cam Ward stopped 33 of 36 shots for the win.
2 Michael Neuvirth, Washington Capitals – Neuvirth stopped all 26 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season in Washington's 1-0 win. Alex Ovechkin scored the lone goal for the Caps late in the third period to break the tie and collect his first game-winning goal of the season.
3 Shea Weber, Nashville Predators – Weber tallied two goals in the third period to lead the Preds' 4-3 comeback win over the Detroit Red Wings. David Legwand and Jordin Tootoo also scored for Nashville and Pekka Rinne stopped 37 of 40 shots.
