Washington Capitals celebrate a Troy Brouwer goal

Of all of the people on the Caps’ roster to tally a hat trick, Troy Brouwer might be one of the least likely. That didn’t stop him from doing just that and quelling a Lightning rally.

1) Troy Brouwer, Washington Capitals – Brouwer tallied his first career hat trick in the Caps’ 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Alex Ovechkin scored Washington’s other goal and Tomas Vokoun stopped 28 of 31 shots for the win.

2) Ryan Getzlaf, Anaheim Ducks – Teemu Selanne may have nominated Corey Perry for the All Star Game, but Ryan Getzlaf isn’t chopped liver either. Getzlaf assisted on four of Anaheim’s five goals in their 5-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers. Perry scored twice and Selanne, Jason Blake and Bobby Ryan all scored once for the Ducks and Jonas Hiller stopped all 33 shots he saw for his second shutout of the season.

3) Curtis Sanford, Columbus Blue Jackets – Sanford stopped 32 of 35 shots to lead the Jackets past the Phoenix Coyotes by a score of 4-3. Tomas Kubalik, Rick Nash, Ryan Russell and Derick Brassard all scored for Columbus.

Play of the Night

Evgeni Malkin scores this beautiful, sharp-angle goal after collecting his own rebound.

Fight of the Night
