Before they stepped on the ice Wednesday night – and before they fired their coach – the Ducks had won only six games. Nearly every player on the team was struggling. Ryan Getzlaf took charge against the Canadiens helped Anaheim win number seven.
1 Ryan Getzlaf, Anaheim Ducks – Getzlaf helped will the Ducks to a 4-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens, tallying a goal and assisting on two more (in addition to firing a game-high six shots and playing 20:50) to lead Anaheim. Also scoring for the Ducks were Devante Smith-Pelly, Correy Perry and Niklas Hagman. Jonas Hiller stopped 19 of 20 shots.
2 Kyle Brodziak, Minnesota Wild – Talk about clutch. Brodziak scored the game-tying tally late in the second period and tallied the game-winning shootout goal in the sixth round. Devin Setoguchi also scored for the Wild and Niklas Backstrom stopped 28 of 30 shots outside of the skills competition in the 3-2 win over the Oilers.
3 David Krejci, Boston Bruins – Krejci scored once and added two more assists as the Bruins downed the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3. Milan Lucic scored twice for the Bruins and Zdeno Chara, Benoit Pouliot and Brad Marchand each scored once. Tim Thomas stopped 34 of 37 shots for the win.
