The Red Wings looked like a team possessed on Saturday night, and a big reason for that was their captain. Leadership is always a key facet of breaking any slump, and the leader certainly showed up in their game against the Ducks.

Nicklas Lidstrom, Detroit Red Wings – It was almost as if the Wings’ captain willed Detroit to their dominant victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night, tallying two goals and an assist in the Wings’ 5-0 drubbing of the Ducks. Lidstrom scored early in the second and third periods and assisted on Henrik Zetterberg’s second period goal to lead the Wings to victory. Niklas Kronwall and Johan Franzen had Detroit’s other goals and the Red Wings unleashed 50 shots on Dan Ellis and Jonas Hiller for the win.

Tyler Seguin, Boston Bruins – Tyler Seguin tallied his first career hat trick in Boston’s 7-0 domination of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Tim Thomas stopped all 25 shots he faced, Milan Lucic scored twice and had an assist and David Krejci and Gregory Campbell added the other goals for Boston.

Jakub Voracek, Philadelphia Flyers – Voracek had a triumphant return to Columbus, scoring a goal and adding two assists in Philly’s 9-2 romp over the Blue Jackets. Sean Couturier scored twice, James van Riemsdyk had a goal and two assists, Max Talbot, Claude Giroux and Jaromir Jagr each had a goal and an assist and Wayne Simmonds had Philly’s other goal and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 33 of 35 shots for the Flyers.
