The Pittsburgh Penguins had let a three-goal lead slip through their fingers midway through the third period. Evgeni Malkin made sure that they got that lead back in style.
1) Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins – Malkin’s five points almost single handedly lead the Penguins past the Tampa Bay Lightning as Geno tallied a natural hat trick, along with two assists. James Neal scored twice and Richard Park once for the Pens and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 17 of 20 shots for the 6-3 win.
2) Tomas Vokoun, Washington Capitals – Vokoun was dazzling on Sunday, stopping 43 of 44 shots, including 18 in the third period to lead the Caps past the Carolina Hurricakes 2-1. Alexander Semin and Dmitry Orlov scored for the Caps.
3) Max Pacioretty, Montreal Canadiens – Pacioretty scored twice and assisted on one more to help lead the Habs past the New York Rangers 4-1. Mike Blunden and David Desharnais also scored for the Canadiens and Peter Budaj stopped 28 of 29 shots for the win.
