Brad Marchand & Zdeno Chara

Brad Marchand has many nicknames around the NHL and, now, scoring threat should be one of them. After a slow start to the season, Marchand is looking like he could be the next great Bruin and Friday night’s game was another step towards that.

1) Brad Marchand, Boston Bruins – Marchand tallied a hat trick and added two assists to a spectacular game for both he and the Bruins as they dispatched the Florida Panthers 8-0. Also scoring for the Bruins were Milan Lucic, Benoit Pouliot, Dennis Seidenberg, Gregory Campbell and Patrice Bergeron. Tuukka Rask stopped all 30 shots he saw for the win.

2) Ilya Kovalchuk, New Jersey Devils – Kovi tallied a goal and an assist in regulation and one more in the shootout to help lead the Devils to a 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals. Alexander Urbom and Adam Henrique also scored for New Jersey and Martin Brodeur stopped 22 of 25 shots for the win.

3) Michael Ryder, Dallas Stars – Ryder scored a goal and added two assists in the Stars’ 6-3 win over the Nashville Predators. Vernon Fiddler, Loui Eriksson, Steve Ott, Mike Ribeiro and Jamie Benn also scored for Dallas and Richard Bachman stopped 34 of 37 shots for his fifth win of the season.

Play of the Night

It’s moves like this that got Benoit Pouliot drafted a few picks behind Sidney Crosby.

Save of the Night

Evgeni Nabokov makes a nice, sliding pad save on Phil Kessel.

Hit of the Night

It’s a pity you don’t see many hipchecks in the NHL anymore, because they’re quite entertaining.
