It’s been quite a while since Optimus Reim came out to play in Toronto, but he was out in full force on Thursday, helping the Leafs hang in to steal a win from the Buffalo Sabres.
1) James Reimer, Toronto Maple Leafs – Reimer stopped 40 of 42 shots, including 18 in the second and 16 in the third, to beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 for just his second win since returning from a concussion. Scoring for Toronto were David Steckel, Phil Kessel and Nazem Kadri.
2) Blake Wheeler, Winnipeg Jets – Wheeler scored his first multi-goal game of the season, tallying two goals and an assist to lead the Jets past the Canadiens 4-0. Tanner Glass and Tim Stapleton scored the other two goals and Ondrej Pavelec stopped 27 of 27 shots for the win.
3) Jordan Eberle, Edmonton Oilers – Eberle tallied two goals against the Minnesota Wild to lead the Oilers to a 4-1 win. Lennart Petrell and Ryan Smith also scored for Edmonton and Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 30 of 31 shots for the win.
