The Blues have been red hot lately and Ken Hitchcock had the opportunity for quite the “statement game” against the Blue Jackets on Sunday, and boy did the Blues make a statement.
1) T.J. Oshie, St. Louis Blues – Oshie scored a goal and an assist in the Blues’ 6-4 come from behind win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Kevin Shattenkirk, Alexander Steen, Jason Arnott, Alex Pietrangelo and Patrik Berglund all scored for St. Louis and Jaroslav Halak stopped 28 of 32 shots for the win.
2) Kris Versteeg, Florida Panthers – Versteeg tallied the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Panthers a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Sean Bergenheim and Jason Garrison scored in regulation for Florida and Jose Theodore stopped 24 of 26 shots.
3) Marian Hossa, Chicago Blackhawks – Hossa tallied a goal and an assist in Chicago’s 4-2 win over the Calgary Flames. Steve Montador, Niklas Hjalmarsson and Patrick Kane also tallied goals for Chicago and Ray Emery stopped 22 shots.
Play of the Night
Upon watching the ridiculous amount of spin on this shot, I likely uttered the same thing as Miikka Kiprusoff: “You’re kidding me.”
Minus of the Night
Rene Bourque introduces Brent Seabrook to the boards in quite the violent fashion, which leads me to one important question. Does the NHL need to put those little, orange stop signs on the backs of jerseys?
Fight of the Night
Cory Sarich and Bryan Bickell get together in this fantastic tilt in Sunday’s Blackhawks/Flames game.
