Rampant optimism abounded when NHL hockey returned to Winnipeg. Rampant optimism quickly turned to cautious optimism, then to reality: The Jets aren't all that great. At least goalie Ondrej Pavelec gives fans cause for hope for the future with performances like Thursday's.
1 Ondrej Pavelec, Winnipeg Jets – Pavelec stopped all 33 shots he faced against the Phoenix Coyotes for his second shutout of the season as Winnipeg downed the ‘Yotes 1-0. Bryan Little scored the lone goal for the Jets.
2 Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings – Quick stopped 41 of 42 shots as the Kings downed the Panthers 2-1. After giving up nine goals in three games, Quick has given up just one in his last two games. Jack Johnson and Dustin Brown scored for Los Angeles.
3 Nikita Nikitin, Columbus Blue Jackets – Nikitin figured in on all three regulation Columbus goals, scoring one and assisting on the other two and he now has eight points in his last ten games, all with the Jackets. Antoine Vermette and Rick Nash each scored for Columbus in regulation and Nash had the lone shootout goal to lead the Jackets past Calgary 4-3.
