Mathieu Perreault

With Alex Ovechkin suspended and Nicklas Backstrom hurt, the Capitals were forced to play their first game in 2,184 days without either player. It’s a good thing for them that they had Mathieu Perreault in the line up.

1) Mathieu Perreault, Washington Capitals – Perreault enjoyed his first career hat trick on Tuesday night, scoring the go-ahead goal three straight times to help lead the Caps past the Boston Bruins. Cody Eakin and Dennis Wideman also scored for Washington and Tomas Vokoun stopped 29 of 32 shots for the 5-3 win, but this was easily the highlight of the night:

2) Kari Lehtonen, Dallas Stars – Lehtonen stopped all 27 Anaheim Duck shots to lead the Stars to a 1-0 win over one of the hottest teams in the NHL. Alex Gologoski scored the lone goal of the game.

3) Mikhail Grabovski, Toronto Maple Leafs – Grabovski scored a goal and assisted on three others to lead the Leafs to a 4-3 overtime victory against the New York Islanders. Clarke MacArthur scored twice and Jake Gardiner once, and Jonas Gustavsson stopped 29 of 32 shots to get the win.

Play of the Night

Carson McMillan scored this beautiful breakaway goal after making a beautiful defensive play in the neutral zone.

Save of the Night

Dance Moves of the Night
