If the Kings make the playoffs this season, it will largely be because of Jonathan Quick. He would be at the forefront of the Vezina talks if Los Angeles offered enough goal support to get their goalie some wins.
1) Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings – Quick stopped all 38 shots the Blackhawks threw at him for his league-leading fifth shutout of the year as the Kings dispatched the ‘Hawks 2-0. Trent Hunter and Jarret Stoll scored for the Kings, who have now won two straight.
2) Petr Sykora, New Jersey Devils – Sykora continued his resurgence with the Devils, tallying two goals in New Jersey’s 3-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres. Zach Parise scored the Devils’ other goal and Martin Brodeur stopped 22 of 23 shots for his fourth win in five games.
3) Pekka Rinne, Nashville Predators – Rinne was dazzling in Nashville’s 2-1 shootout win over the Minnesota Wild. Jordin Tootoo scored the lone regulation goal and Colin Wilson scored the lone shootout goal for the Preds.
Play of the Night
This, boys and girls, is what we call a snipe by Alex Semin.
Fight of the Night
Some might say that Brendan Shanahan should look at Raffi Torres’ elbow on Andrew Ference, but I’m guessing that he’ll only watch to see Torres get dominated by Adam McQuaid.
