There are some games where it’s just too difficult to pick one star of the game. A nine-goal outburst by one team, for example. It’s often helpful, though, if there is a shutout involved in those games to make things much easier.
1) Tuukka Rask, Boston Bruins – In a game where any number of offensive players could have been the star of the night for the Bruins, Rask stole the show, stopping all 25 shots to down the Calgary Flames 9-0. Nathan Horton and Patrice Bergeron both scored twice and Tyler Seguin, Milan Lucic, David Krejci, Chris Kelly and Dan Paille all scored once for the Bruins.
2) Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings – Quick was perfect through three periods and overtime, stopping 22 shots to give the Kings a 1-0 overtime victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. Drew Doughty scored the lone goal of the game in overtime.
3) Daniel Alfredsson, Ottawa Senators – Alfie continued his hot play on Thursday, tallying a goal and two assists in Ottawa’s 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Jason Spezza, Zack Smith and Kyle Turris also scored for Ottawa and Craig Anderson stopped 35 of 36 shots for the win.
