This almost isn’t fair. Not only did the Bruins win the Stanley Cup, they’ve got two world class goaltenders to help defend their title. Tuesday night was Tuukka Rask’s turn to show what he could do.
1 Tuukka Rask, Boston Bruins – Rask stopped all 41 shots he faced against the Los Angeles Kings and interim head coach John Stevens – 20 in the third period alone – for his first shutout of the season. Brad Marchand scored twice for Boston and Rich Peverley scored once.
2 Richard Bachman, Dallas Stars – Bachman stopped all 34 shots he faced against the New York Rangers, the difference in a 1-0 Stars win. Trevor Daley scored the only goal of the game.
3 Ilya Kovalchuk, New Jersey Devils – Kovi helped spearhead New Jersey’s comeback win over the Florida Panthers, assisting on both regulation goals for the Devils and scoring one of his own in the shootout. Martin Brodeur stopped 24 of 26 shots and Patrick Elias and Zach Parise provided the regulation goals for the Devils.
