Every player who reaches a milestone in a loss tends to brush it off, saying he would have rather won. Every once in a while, it's nice to have a player reach a milestone in victory so he doesn’t have to be so darn modest.
1 Jason Spezza, Ottawa Senators – Spezza broke an 11-game scoreless streak and tallied two goals to hit his 200th career goal in Ottawa’s 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes “It’s nice to get my 200th out of the way, and it’s obviously a big accomplishment and something to be proud of,” Spezza told reporters afterwards. David Rundblad tallied his first career goal and Zack Smith tallied the game-winner for the Sens, who won despite being outshot 37-25.
2 Brian Elliott, St. Louis Blues – The more I watch, the more it seems like Brian Elliott may have found a home in St. Louis. Stopping 23 of 24 shots for a 2-1 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Elliott won his sixth straight game and increased his record to 10-1-0. Kris Russell scored his third goal since being traded from the Blue Jackets and David Backes scored the game-winner.
3 Tyler Bozak, Toronto Maple Leafs – Bozak scored twice for the Leafs, giving him four goals and five points in his last three games as Toronto downed the Anaheim Ducks 5-2. Clarke MacArthur, Joey Crabb and Luke Schenn also scored for the Leafs and Jonas Gustavsson stopped 26 of 28 shots for the win.
