Don't look now, but the Florida Panthers are sitting atop the Southeast Division, one point ahead of the Capitals and the Lightning. A big reason for that is Kris Versteeg, who is on pace for a 93-point season.
1
Kris Versteeg, Florida Panthers – Versteeg scored his first career hat trick and added an assist to lead the Panthers past Winnipeg 5-2. Jason Garrison scored his sixth goal of the season, tied for the league lead for defensemen, and Mike Santorelli also scored for the Panthers.
2
Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks – Toews scored twice in the first period and assisted on Marian Hossa’s eighth goal of the season as the Blackhawks rolled past the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-3. Andrew Brunette, Steve Montador and Patrick Kane rounded out the scoring for Chicago as Corey Crawford made 27 of 30 saves.
3
Brad Marchand, Boston Bruins – Marchand scored twice in Boston’s 6-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers. Also scoring for Boston were Johnny Boychuk, Jordan Caron, Tyler Seguin and Milan Lucic. Tuukka Rask stopped 27 of 30 shots.
