It seems that there might be another Vote For Rory campaign coming for this year’s All Star Game; instead of Vote For Rory, it’s Vote For Rome. Canucks defenseman Aaron Rome has five points in his first four games (including three goals) and is showing no signs of slowing down.
1
Aaron Rome, Vancouver Canucks – Rome continued his hot streak on Sunday tallying a goal and two assists in Vancouver’s 4-1 dismantling of the New York Islanders. Henrik Sedin, Cody Hodgson and David Booth all scored and Roberto Luongo made 23 saves for the win.
2
Steve Montador, Chicago Blackhawks – Montador tallied two goals in the first period of Chicago’s 6-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers, including a rare deflection goal for the defenseman. Jonathan Toews also scored twice and Duncan Keith and Dan Carcillo rounded out the scoring for the Blackhawks.
3
Niklas Backstrom, Minnesota Wild – Backstrom willed the Wild to a 3-2 win, making 32 of 34 saves for Minnesota, 25 of which were in the final two periods after the Wild shot out to an early three-goal lead. Kyle Brodziak, Matt Cullen and Jared Spurgeon scored for the Wild, who broke a two-game losing streak.
Play of the Night
Apparently no one told Michael Grabner that he’s supposed to be out of the play when he’s on his back, because he made this gorgeous centering feed that helped set up a Matt Moulson goal:
Save of the Night
Sticking with the Michael Grabner theme, check out him getting absolutely robbed by a brilliant glove save by Roberto Luongo:
