First Star: Tyler Myers, Buffalo Sabres - Myers' four point night helped lead the Sabres to victory over the Dallas Stars and furthered his case for the Calder Trophy. His pinball-esque goal opened the scoring for the game just 55 seconds in and his shot off of a Tim Connelly draw led to Jason Pominville tying the game at three to end the first. His shot in the second led to Thomas Vanek's 20th goal of the season and he also assisted on Derek Roy's empty net goal to seal the deal. Second Star: Lee Stempniak, Phoenix Coyotes - What a difference a change in scenery makes. Stempniak's two goals for the Coyotes in their 4-3 shootout win over Vancouver on Wednesday night gave him three goals and four points in three games with the Coyotes. He opened the scoring with a fantastic wrist shot to beat Andrew Raycroft, then his backhander in the third put the Desert Dogs on top once again. He completed his trick, albeit in the shootout, as the Coyotes ended up winning it in the sixth round. Third Star: Patrick Sharp, Chicago Blackhawks - Sharp was just that against the Kings on Wednesday, scoring twice-including the overtime game winner. He opened the scoring with a nice passing play between he, Patrick Kane and Adam Burish and scored on a breakaway in overtime off of a Brad Richardson turnover to win the game. |
