First Period: Joe Pavelski, San Jose Sharks - Pavelski didn't crack the score sheet until the third period, but when he did it was in a big way. With the Sharks down 4-2 heading into the final frame, Pavelski collected two goals and two assists to spur on a six-goal period. Some great passing led to the Dany Heatley goal to open the period, then his slapshot on an odd-man rush allowed for Manny Malhotra to pot the rebound. A strong forecheck by Malhotra led to his second goal and his second goal of the night was a goal of the night candidate as he scored a nifty spin-o-rama goal to put the Sharks on top for good. Second Period: Miikka Kiprusoff, Calgary Flames - In a case of the goaltender stealing a game for his team, Kipper made 33 saves to blank the Ottawa Senators 2-0 while his defense in front of him blocked 30 more. While Kipper gave his defense its due, it was the Finnish goaltender that saved the game, making a few tremendous saves along the way. Third Period: Patrice Bergeron, Boston Bruins - With Marc Savard out with an injury, Patrice Bergeron stepped up his game with a goal and two assists. His heads up passing led to Mark Recchi's goal early in the second and some sweet dangles led to Marco Sturm's goal in the third. Sandwiched between the two was a great hustle play that led to him slamming home a rebound. |
