First Star: Alexander Frolov, Los Angeles Kings - On a night where the Kings didn't get much resistance, Frolov was absolutely dominant. His slapshot powerplay goal in the first period put the Kings up 4-0 and chased Steve Mason from the net, while his strong rush and play behind the net led to Drew Doughty's goal in the first as well. Frolov also assisted on Fredrik Modin's powerplay tally in the second and Brad Richardson's goal in the second to round out the scoring. Second Star: Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals - After not having scored for six games, you knew that Oveckin would come out in a big way and that he did. His first of the evening put the Caps up 2-0 and his second tied the game at three after a third period collapse by the Captials. It wasn't enough, however, as the Stars would rebound to win in a shootout. Third Star: Marty Turco, Dallas Stars - For all the talk that Marty Turco is slipping, it's games like Monday's that show that he's still got it. Turco stopped a career-high 49 shots in the game, including a 19 shot first period and a 23 shot second, and three more in the shootout to help lead the Stars back to victory. |
