The deals have begun. One day after the Flyers sent Mike Richards and Jeff Carter to Los Angeles and Columbus, respectively, the Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired defenseman John-Michael Liles. Toronto sends a second-round draft pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft to the Colorado Avalanche in return, a trade that assistant general manager Dave Nonis said almost happened at the trade deadline. According to CapGeek.com, Liles has one year remaining on his contract with a salary of $4.5 million and a cap hit of $4.2 million. The Indianapolis native has 275 points (68+207=275) in 523 career games and tallied six goals and 46 points last season in 76 games. The draft pick sent to the Avalanche is from the trade that sent Tomas Kaberle to the Boston Bruins in February.
