Dainius Zubrus

The Devils were supposed to just fold to the offensive juggernaut that was the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. The only problem is, someone forgot to tell the Devils that.

1) Dainius Zubrus, New Jersey Devils – The Devils moved one win closer to the Conference Finals, downing the Flyers 4-2 to gain a 3-1 series lead thanks to a two-goal performance by Zubrus. Petr Sykora and Marek Zidlicky also scored for the Devils, while Martin Brodeur stopped 20 of 22 shots for the win.

2) Dustin Brown, Los Angeles Kings – Brown continued his terrific postseason, scoring twice in the Kings’ series-winning win over the St. Louis Blues to give the Kings their first series sweep in the team’s history. Jordan Nolan scored the team’s other goal in their 3-1 victory.

3) Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings – Quick was again spectacular on Sunday, stopping 23 of 24 shots for his eighth win of the postseason and making him an early favorite for the Conn Smythe trophy, should the Kings make it that far.

Play of the Night

Is Claude Giroux the best player in the NHL? We’re not sure, but this goal was certainly pretty.

Save of the Night

Brian Elliott hasn’t had a lot to be happy about in the second round, and an early exit only compounded that. But hey, this is a nice save.

Fight of the Night

Chris Stewart decided he’d try to spark the Blues early, throwing down with Jonathan Nolan.
