Joe Nieuwendyk knew the man that he wanted for the job and went after him. Less than 24 hours after handing Dave Tippett his walking papers, Nieuwendyk has hired his replacement. The Dallas Stars will introduce Marc Crawford as their new coach in a press conference on Thursday, according to the team’s website. Crawford has previously coached the Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche, Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings and has both a Jack Adams award and Stanley Cup on his resume. The 48-year old Belleville, Ontario native has coached a total of 987 NHL games for a record of 470-361-156.
